Does Chemo Or Radiation For Lung Cancer Cause Brain Damage?

Chemotherapy rarely crosses the "blood brain barrier"

so our 100+ chemo drugs do not affect the brain.

Radiation might affect the brain only if it is aimed at the head -

- not if it is aimed at the chest.

Even with cranial radiation I have not seen people suffer

impairment of brain function.

- - -

As Denise says - the malignancy which has spread to the brain

causes more damage than the treatment.

Most chemo drugs due cause whats commonly known as "chemo brain".
Not a permanent condition.
Can cause marked confusion and loss of short term memory.
It clears with time.
